President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday appointed former Army Commander General S.H.S. Kottegoda (Retd.) as the Secretary of Defence, a statement from his office said.
He was the 17th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army from July 1, 2004 to December 5, 2005 and the former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Brazil.
In a series of appointments to a number of topmost posts, the President appointed Solicitor General Dappula De Livera as Acting Attorney General and Additional Auditor General Chulantha Wickremaratne as Auditor General.
In addition, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickramaratne was appointed as Acting Inspector General of Police and former IGP N.K. Illangakoon as Advisor to the Defence Ministry.
They received their letters of appointment from President Sirisena yesterday.
