Former Minister and All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) Leader Rishad Bathiudeen yesterday filed a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition in Supreme Court seeking anticipatory bail.
He cited Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne, the DIG in charge of the CID, the Director of the CID and the Attorney General (AG) as respondents. He stated that the police attempted to arrest him on allegations that he transported voters from Puttalam using buses belonging to the Sri Lanka Transport Board during the last presidential election.
He sought anticipatory bail refuting such allegations. (ER)
