The number of places where random rapid antigen tests are to be carried out on people leaving the Western Province will be increased to 11 from today (23), Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
“At present, the tests are being conducted at four locations namely, Salawa in Kosgama, Danowita in Mirigama, Kochchikade in Negombo, and Aluthgama on the Galle Road, for individuals selected at random,” he said.
DIG Rohana said that random Antigen Tests were also being carried out on the Express-ways as well.
He said the purpose to conduct such tests was to prevent emerging new sub clusters.
He said a total of 11 people had been identified as Covid-19 infected as of yesterday through random Antigen Tests carried out on those leaving the Western Province.
