The United National Party (UNP) and Samagi Jana Balawegaya ( SJB) yesterday denied social media reports that they are slated to forge an alliance to contest the Provincial Council elections expected to be held later this year.

UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara said no dialogue had taken place with SJB in this regard. “How can there be a dialogue to form an alliance for the Provincial Council elections when there is no certainty of holding such an election?” he asked.  Meanwhile SJB MP Harin Fernando also denied such reports in the internet media.
