A considerable number of applications from 53,000 submitted for postal voting in the Anuradhapura District had been rejected, Anuradhapura District Secretary R.M. Wanninayake informed yesterday.
“A considerable number of applications, submitted by State employees desirous of performing duties at the presidential election in Anuradhapura, had been rejected. These applications have been rejected due to lapses in the completion of these forms,” he said.
The number of registered voters in the Anuradhapura District, who are qualified to cast their vote at the forthcoming presidential election, stands at 682,450. The number of polling stations in the district is 634.
According to Mr. Wanninayake, postal voting will take place on October 31 and November 1.
