It was decided at yesterday’s party leaders’ meeting to invite the Attorney General to attend the next party leaders meeting so that his advise could be sought with regards to holding Provincial Council elections.
A party leaders’ meeting with the participation of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa was held at the Speaker’s office to discuss about the possibility of holding the Provincial Council elections. There was consensus among the party leaders who attended the meeting had stressed the need to hold the PC election as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, party leaders representing minority parties had requested a meeting with the President in order to discuss some of their concerns.
