An Inspector of Police attached to the Divisional Crime Detective Bureau of Anuradhapura has been arrested in connection with aiding and abetting drug trafficking, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said. He said the IP was arrested in Anuradhapura and five mobile phones along with SIM cards were recovered from the possession of the suspect.
DIG Rohana said it had been revealed that the Inspector was involved with some drug traffickers following the analysing of the telephone details.
The 43-year-old suspect is to be produced before Court seeking a seven-day detention order in terms of the provisions of the dangerous drugs ordinance to conduct further investigations, the spokesman said.
