Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi who was infected with Covid-19 was transferred to the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) in Angoda on Thursday.   

After being diagnosed with Covid-19, she was admitted to a treatment centre in Hikkaduwa.   
She contracted COVID-19 on January 23.   
Meanwhile, the health ministry said quoting Pavithra Wanniarachchi that she is pleased that the imported vaccine was provided to the front-line health staff and security services.   


Although she was unable to participate in the first vaccination programme as she is currently receiving treatment at IDH, she hopes that the vaccination programme will be implemented very successfully.   


She emphasised that with the commencement of this vaccination programme, the programme to control the Covid virus in the country will be further strengthened. 

 
The Minister said that the vaccination programme, which started in six hospitals in the Western Province, will be extended to all parts of the country from today. 

 
She said that she is committed towards eradicating the Covid-19 virus from the country by taking all possible measures.
