SLFP MP Shantha Bandara told Parliament yesterday that funds were allocated to the Presidential Secretariat (PS) not for the well-being of the President but to facilitate a number of projects launched for the well-being of the people.
“The Presidential Secretariat has launched several projects such as Grama Shakthi and programmes to prevent drugs as well as kidney diseases. UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra has said UNP backbenchers would vote against the President’s expenditure head,” he said.
Speaking at the second reading of the budget, he said the government had not provided relief to people though there was an election in sight.
