The Ceylon Workers Congress had suspended Agarapatana PS Chairman Kadirselvam from December 24 to conduct a disciplinary inquiry against him for violating quarantine regulations, Senior Vice-President of the party and Nuwara Eliya District MP M. Rameswaran said yesterday.
The PS Chairman has allegedly attended several political meetings violating quarantine regulations.
“As a result health authorities have placed several VIPs and the CWC General Secretary in self-isolation,” he added. Rameswaran told Daily Mirror over the phone as he was in self-isolation at his residence in Madakumbura, Talawakele.
The Agarapatana PS Chairman had attended three meetings which were attended by several VIPs without informing the CWC General Secretary Jeevan Thondaman that he was under self-quarantine after conducting a PCR test, he said.
“Since the General Secretary has absolute powers within the party, he informed the Chairman about his temporary suspension of the party membership through the phone. He is currently at Hambantota quarantine centre. At the end of the self-quarantine period of Jeevan Thondaman, a disciplinary inquiry will be made against Kadirselvam,” he added.
“The self-isolation period of the General Secretary and himself would end on January 3 2021,” he said.
