Assistant Superintendent of Police, D. U. P. Amarathunga said that the OIC of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Drugs) of the Panadura Police Division was interdicted for revealing his nudity to a woman over the instant messaging application, IMO.
This step was taken following an investigation conducted over a complaint lodged by a woman who was an overseas returnee to whom the Police Inspector has made an improper invitation by sharing his nudity through IMO while in a bathroom, he added.
According to police sources, the woman has taken several screenshots when the Police Inspector shared his nudity and forwarded them along with her complaint.
The Police Inspector had remanded the brother of the woman who lodged the complaint for possession of heroin on August 24 and after a few days, this incident has taken place.
ASP, Amarathunga also said that the Police Inspector has had a conversation over the phone with the woman a few days after her brother was remanded.
The interdiction was carried out by the ASP Amarathunga under the advice of the OIC of the Kalutara Police Division, DIG Vijitha Gunarathna and the OIC of the Panadura Police Division, Senior Police Superintendent Sanjaya Irasinghe and on the instructions of Senior DIG of the Western Province, Deshabandu Tennakoon.
