Newly appointed Attorney General Sanjay Rajaratnam PC has abolished the post of Co-ordinating Officer to the Attorney General with immediate effect, a circular stated.
Signed by Senior Deputy Solicitor General (Administration) Chethiya Goonesekera, the special circular addressed to all officers at the Attorney General’s Department stated that “Circular No.28 of 2019 is hereby rescinded with immediate effect.” “There will be no Co-ordinating Officer to the Attorney General,” the circular dated on May 31, 2021, stated.
State Counsel Ms Nishara Jayaratne was the Co-ordinating Officer to the previous Attorney General Dappula de Livera. With the retirement of Dappula de Livera PC, State Counsel Ms Jayaratne, relinquished her duties on May 24, 2021.
