A Navy officer attached to the Navy Headquarters died due to Leptospirosis (rat fever) while receiving treatments at the Intensive Care Unit of the Navy General Hospital in Welisara yesterday, the Navy said.
The deceased officer was identified as 35-year-old Lieutenant Commander Sunil Bandara Dodamwala, a resident of the Galenbindunuwewa area. The Navy said the test results showed that the deceased officer had not been infected with COVID-19 despite a considerable number of Navy officers of the Welisara Camp testing positive for COVID-19.
