The Management of the Nelum Pokuna Theatre has claimed for damages amounting to an estimated Rs. 200,000 from the organisers of the Mrs. Sri Lanka pageant, following the brawl which erupted last Sunday evening which led to the uncrowning of the winner.
Chief Executive Officer at Nelum Pokuna Theatre, Brigadier Sujith Balachandra told Daily Mirror that damages had occurred to the entering path of the stage mainly from the high heels worn by the females.
“We already informed the organising committee for the recovery of the damages caused to the theatre by the beauty pageant,” he said. “They are responsible,” he added.
Balachandra denied reports claiming that damages had also been caused to the dressing rooms stating these claims were false.
National Organiser of the Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World Chandimal Jayasinghe said that the Nelum Pokuna Theatre had suffered extensive damages including mirrors being broken in the dressing rooms.
