Steps have been taken to obtain facilities at Colombo Hotels to facilitate expatriates arriving in the country to spend their mandatory quarantine period, Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni said yesterday.
He said the Cinnamon Red Hotel in Colombo has already been taken as a paid isolation centre while discussions are in progress to obtain facilities of the Best Western Elyon Hotel as well.
He said the decision was taken as all quarantine centres in the country had exceeded its capacity now.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Cinnamon Red Hotel confirmed it had dedicated the hotel as an isolation centre to facilitate seafarers arriving in the country to spend their mandatory quarantine period.
He said the Hotel was not open for outsiders now.
