Another batch of 125 Sri Lankan students who were stranded in Kolkata, India were brought back to the country last evening, the Katunayake airport duty manager said.
He said the SriLankan Airlines flight UL 1188 took off at 10.35 am to airlift them.
He said the first phase of bringing of Sri Lankan students from SAARC countries had to be concluded by Wednesday, but after bringing these students from Kolkata, that mission would officially conclude.
However, SriLankan Airlines media director Deepal V. Perera said the second phase of bringing down Sri Lankan students stranded in foreign countries would start in a few days. All the students were sent to quarantine centres by the army officials after conducting medical tests at the airport, the duty manager added.
