The minor flood situation was said to be receding as of yesterday but the Department of Meteorology warned of heavy showers up to 200 mm in South Western part of the county, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces as of yesterday.
Heavy rains are expected in Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kalutara and Galle Districts as well.
The rains have brought cyclone “AMPHAN” which lay centered as an Extremely Severe Cyclonic storm over west-central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, is very likely to move further north-northeastwards away from the island across west Bengal, according to the Department.
