The 28 foreigners, arrested on charges of transporting heroin and ICE in the southern seas off Sri Lanka were yesterday detained till March 11 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
At the time of their arrest by the the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) on Monday the suspects had in their possession some 600 kg heroin and 50 kg of ‘ICE’ valued at Rs.6 billion.
The narcotics, the suspects and the four vessels were taken to the Dikowita Fisheries Harbour on Thursday.
The Navy carried out the arrests with the deployment of its offshore patrol vessels, Samudra and Sindurala on a tip off received from the PNB.
