Drug kingpin M.N. Mohamed Imran alias Kanjipani Imran, who was arrested along with underworld figure Makandure Madush in Dubai, was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate on the charge of allegedly threatening the Crime Branch OIC of Keselwatta Police. The case was postponed for September 20.
He was produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne on an order issued consequent to a complaint made by the Keselwatta Police that Kanjipani Imran had threatened him from Dubai to release a suspect arrested for a narcotic case.
The magistrate ordered the police to obtain a report from the Government Analyst (GA) by tallying his voice with that of the recording.
