Referring to the independent manner the police is acting at present, Minister of Education and Youth Affairs Dullas Alahapperuma questioned isn’t this the change people wanted.
With regard to the recent arrests and the accusations made against them, Minister Alahapperuma said the police is currently working independently.
“The Police are carrying out their work independently and we are working with the public independently. Isn’t this the change you wanted?.
Look at the calm situation which the people are enjoying today?” he said.
Speaking at a function held to open the Malimbada Market in Matara, the Minister expressed these views.
He said the ‘underworld’ had become unheard of since the present government came into power.
“Previously the underworld had been with the then government.” Mr Alahapperuma said.
