It will take at least 14 to 21 days for the immune system to respond to the COVID-19 vaccine, Prof. Neelika Malavige of the Department of Immunology and Molecular Medicine at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura said.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, she said it was applicable to any vaccine and added that was how the vaccine responded to one’s immune system.
She said this in response to the claims made by various parties with regard to shortcomings of the vaccination. “No one’s immune system responds to any vaccine immediately. It will take at least 21 days to happen so. There is no exception for the COVID-19 vaccine,” she underlined.
