The investigation being carried out by the Police Special Investigation Unit (SIU) against Wellampitiya Police Officers, had been able to reveal certain facts during the probe, police said.

The SIU had begun the investigation and they had discovered several facts regarding the incident

The SIU launched a probe to determine whether nine individuals who were workers of the copper factory at Wellampitiya were released on bail due to an error by Wellampitiya Police Officers.

Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said the SIU had begun the investigation and they had discovered several facts regarding the incident and said that stern action would be taken against the officers responsible for the matter.  Nine employees attached to the copper factory in Wellampitiya, which was owned by Mohamed Ibrahim Inshaq Ahamed, the suicide bomber at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, were arrested in connection with the Easter Sunday attacks on April 21.

They were remanded till May 6 and when the suspects were produced in court on this day, they were granted bail.

Were they granted Bail due to Political intervention? This aspect has not been clarified. Please do NOT try to be politically correct. A traitor, thief, terrorist, would be terrorist, criminal of any sort must never be protected. The Police MUST have the guts NOT to obey antinational directions from ANYONE. MM
