Govt. restored security for all - SLPP Gen. Secy.

• Govt. had contained underworld criminal activities and restored national security by curbing extremism
• Govt. has taken all possible measures to protect the environment

General Secretary of the governing Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna(SLPP) Sagara Kariyawasam said the Government had contained the underworld criminal activities and restored national security by curbing extremism. 

Mr. Kariyawasam told a news conference that the country had been threatened by radical terrorism making it impossible for Buddhists to go to temples, Catholics to attend the Churches and even Muslims to gather in Mosques. He said the Government restored security for all and also acted to scrap the MCC agreement.  
Responding to allegations about forest destruction, he said it was a baseless allegation.  
“The Government has taken all possible measures to protect the environment,” he said.
