PCoI probing Easter Sunday attacks
By Yoshitha Perera
Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who appeared at the Police Unit attached to the PCoI probing Easter Sunday attacks, gave a four hour long statement with regard to matters pertaining to the co-ordinated terror attack that occurred on April 21.
The Police Unit officers also recorded a statement for nearly three hours from UNP General Secretary and former Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.
Addressing the media, Mr. Kariyawasam said he was questioned with regard to the contents of certain school text books on Islam.
“These books were prepared by the National Institute of Education and by experts in the field. Usually the Minister has no involvement in the preparation of text books. That’s what I told them,” he said.
