The All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association President N. K Jayawardene yesterday said they have decided to increase the price of a loaf of bread by Rs 3 to Rs 5, following the announcement by wheat suppliers, of an increase in the price of wheat flour by Rs. 8.50.
Meanwhile the Consumer Affairs Authority said in a statement that it had not given permission for a price hike and that legal action will be taken against those who sell at a higher price.
