While stating that the government should carry out a proper probe to uncover the mastermind behind the Easter Sunday attacks obtaining the services of foreign intelligence experts, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) said it will support such an effective investigation.
SJB MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha came up with this remark when a question was raised at a press conference yesterday as to why SJB won’t support the government in carrying out an effective investigation to uncover the real mastermind behind the Easter Sunday mayhem.
“We are prepared to cooperate with the government in carrying out an effective investigation on the Easter Sunday attacks if a proper investigation is carried out. Government should obtain the services of foreign intelligence experts if necessary and carry out a proper investigation. MP Harin Fernando revealed in Parliament about a small Zahran who had come from abroad and an intelligence officer had associated with him while MP Manusha Nanayakkara revealed that one intelligence officer had met the suicide bomber who tried to blow himself up at Taj hotel. This intelligence officer had met this bomber before he blew himself at the hotel in Dehiwala where he was staying. The police officer who helped Sarah, the wife of the bomber who blew himself up at Katuwapitiya Church is in custody. Therefore investigations should be carried out based on these matters,” Mr. Jayamaha said.
Asked why the SJB is opposing the arrest of MP Rishad Bathiudeen, the MP Jayamaha said his party is opposing the arrest as the former is not a person who is being held responsible for the mayhem.
