Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Arjuna Ranatunga had advised the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) and the National Transport Medical Institute (NTMI) to carry out day-to-day business on Saturdays to provide an efficient service to the public.
The first phase of the programme would commence from the Werahera Office Branch, the Minister said. “Therefore, the public would get the opportunity to collect their driving licences on weekdays as well as on Saturdays. The public would be able to get services such as renewing driving licences, obtaining new licences, driving licence application forms and determine the competence of driving as well,” he said.
Apart from that the National Transport Medical Institute at Nugegoda the Werahera Office would be opened on Saturdays and driving licences and medical certificates would be issued from them.
The Government Sector workers would be much benefitted by this new arrangement,” he said.
