Minister of Public Service, Provincial Councils and Local Government Janaka Bandara Tennakoon said steps would be taken to cremate the bodies of CORONA victims free of charge in crematoriums of local authorities.
He told the special meeting of the district Corona control committee yesterday that the relevant circular would be issued soon. He took this decision in response to a request of Matale Mayor. He said the several more Corona treatment centres with the capacity of 1,000 beds would be established and that he had already taken it up with Minister of Health Pavithradevi Wanniarachchi.
Parliamentarians Nalaka Kottegoda, Rohana Dissanayake, Coordinator of the COVID-19 Control Committee Maj. Gen. S. U. M. N. Manage, Director of Health Services, Matale District Dr. Chaminda Weerakoon and several senior officials were also present at the occasion.
