The Business Committee in Parliament which is to meet today will make a final decision whether the Media be allowed to cover Parliamentary proceedings, an official said yesterday.

Sergeant-at-arms Narendra Fernando told Daily Mirror that the  Business Committee will meet today at 11a.m. with Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya at the Chair. “The decision whether the media would be allowed to cover Parliament proceedings will be made at today’s meeting,” he said.  “Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana will not be participating in the meeting today as he is kept under self-quarantine after two of his security staff members were found to be COVID 19 positive,” he added.

Media was not allowed to cover the Budget speech 2021 and the Budget debate as a COVID-19 control measure.
