Correction of the News item published in the Daily Mirror Newspaper dated 6th March 2021 titled “Catholic Churches in Archdiocese of Colombo will observe five minutes silence”   


Colombo Archdiocese has sent the following clarification to the news published in Daily Mirror on Saturday, March 06 titled “Catholic Churches in Archdiocese of Colombo will observe five minutes silence”. The clarification as follows,   


“We write with reference to the news item published in your Newspaper dated 6th March 2021 bearing the aforementioned title which carried the news that Rev. Fr. Jude Chrishantha – the Head of the Social Relations Unit of the Archdiocese of Colombo had indicated that “in addition all devotees have been asked to be clad in black as a mark of protest over the report submitted by the Presidential Commission that probed the series of bomb blasts. The Church criticised the report saying that the real culprits of the acts of terrorism had not been identified”.   
In this regard, we state that the said portion of the aforementioned news report is wholly incorrect and does not reflect the views expressed by the said Rev. Fr. Jude Chrishantha and of the Archdiocese of Colombo in any manner whatsoever.
