The Police Headquarters has issued a special notice to all senior police officers to provide maximum security during the special church services and other religious ceremonies to be held to commemorate the victims who were killed by the deadly suicide attacks on April 21, 2019 Easter Sunday.
Accordingly, strict orders had been issued to all senior DIGs, Divisional Superintendents of Police, SPs and OICs, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
The Police Headquarters has instructed all Divisional Superintendents of Police and Officers-in-Charge of Police Stations to meet with priests, clergy and religious leaders of the churches where the commemoration will be held and to discuss with them about the necessary security arrangements.
DIG Rohana said the IGP also instructed that the security provided by the OICs should be under the direct supervision of their senior officers.
