Services are expected to resume in Catholic churches once the curfew is lifted, but only a limited number of worshippers will be allowed at a given time, said Rev. Fr. Jude Chrishantha, Head of the Social Services Unit at the Archdiocese of Colombo.
“Services will not be confined to Sunday but held daily. Each parish will be decided into zones or cottages and devotees from one or two zones or cottages will be allowed to participate in services on a weekday. However, devotees are expected to come wearing face masks. Sanitizing facilities will have to be provided by
the church,” he said.
On a different note, he said a limited number of invitees would be allowed to participate in marriage services. “Only family members and close relatives of the couple will be allowed when it comes to marriage services,” he said.
However, a final decision is to be taken by the Catholic Bishops Conference which will meet today.
