The Former Chairman of Ceylon Fertilizer Company Limited has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over a alleged financial irregularity of Rs.90 million.
Police said the CID had commenced an investigation into a complaint lodged with the CID on January 14, 2020 regarding a financial irregularity of Rs.90 million during the purchase of liquid fertilizer by Ceylon Fertilizer Limited from a private company.
The suspect who was the Chairman of the Ceylon Fertilizer Company from 2017 to 2019 was arrested at his residence in Wickramasinghapura, Battaramulla, on suspicion of being involved in this financial irregularity, The arrested suspect is to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court. The CID is conducting further investigations.
