The Catholic Church has been allowed to conduct wedding services from next week under the guidelines prescribed by the health authorities, the Colombo Archdiocese said yesterday.
Archdiocese Social Relations Unit spokesman Fr. Jude Chrishantha told Daily Mirror those who have booked the churches for weddings already can meet the parish priests and arrange the wedding services under the stipulated health guidelines.
He said only 100 guests are allowed to attend wedding masses. Guests will have to wear face masks and follow other health guidelines, which were published in the Catholic weeklies including the Catholic Messenger and the Gnanartha Pradeepaya which were out yesterday.
However, Fr. Chrishantha said the health authorities have yet to give the green light to resume Sunday services.
Many churches were open from a fortnight ago for devotees to carry out their personal prayers.
