The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court that it has sought the advice of the Attorney General (AG) on the legal action to be take against former State Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran, who is suspected of making a statement that the LTTE should be revived.
When the case was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddika Sri Ragala, the CID informed Court that the investigation into the incident had been completed and the relevant files had been referred to the AG’s Department.
The CID added that it had not received the AG’s advice yet on this matter. The Magistrate postponed the case till September 10 afterwards.
Speaking at a meeting held at Weerasingham Hall in Jaffna on July 2, 2018, former State Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran made a statement that the LTTE should be revived.
She was on October 8, 2018 arrested and produced before Courts on suspicion of committing an offense under the Civil and Political Rights Act.
