The Cabinet yesterday approved to move out of the UNHRC resolution 30/1 with the help of ‘likeminded’ countries, Daily Mirror learns. Accordingly, Foreign Relations Minister Dinesh Gunawardane is expected to make a statement today in Parliament.
According to informed sources, the government will move a counter-resolution along with the support of likeminded countries to nullify the present resolution or else there is no facility in the UNHRC process to withdraw the co-sponsorship.
Sri Lanka co-sponsored the resolution in 2015 under the previous government.
