Modernising the Sri Lanka Police
Sri Lanka Police is a leading body empowered to ensure the safety and security of the public and to maintain law and order.
It also provides multiple services to people across the country.
It has been identified that the police need to be modernised by changing the existing traditional methods. Under this, it has been identified that the traffic handling process should be made effective and efficient through modern methods.
In particular, priority should be given to streamlining the work of the Police- Traffic and Road Safety Division using digitized solutions to reduce existing traffic congestion in urban areas.
Continuation of inter-provincial bus services in the face of the Covid-19 epidemic.
The Cabinet approval had been granted on 09.11.2020 to waive the update charges, delay charges, tender fees, log clearance fees, entry fee and fees of express-way temporary permit that is charged by bus operators, till the end of 2020 for the continuation of inter-provincial bus services in the face of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Since it appears that it may take some more time to bring the bus service to normalcy, out of the concessions given, the following are to be continued till 31st March 2021. Charging the higher amount of the two 10% of the annual tender fee or a Rs. 15,000, Charging 10% of the express license fee on the express-way and release from Log and access Fees.
