Although we have succeeded in preventing the entry of the new COVID virus strains into the country, we cannot prevent the mutations of the virus that already exist in our country, Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) Editor Dr. Haritha Aluthge said.
He told the media that every virus strain in any country can have mutations, he said. "The mutation of a virus has no limits. It can change to a new strain anywhere," Dr. Aluthge said. Therefore, there is a possibility of emerging new COVID-19 virus strains even in our country similar to those which emerged in other countries. It was revealed that more than 20 COVID virus strains are prevalent in the world, he said. The basic health habits should be maintained, regardless of any type of virus strain, Dr. Aluthge said.
