The COVID-19 crisis is definitely caused by someone who has been playing around with the virus in a laboratory though one cannot point a finger at any particular country for it, Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said yesterday.
“The spread of COVID-19 is certainly a result of someone playing around with the virus in a laboratory. I have said this before but I have to say it again,” Cardinal Ranjith said during the Sunday service held at Tewatte Basilica yesterday morning.
“Still I would not point my finger at any country,” he added.
Cardinal Ranjith said one could clearly see the destruction caused by man to the environment because of the current global lockdown.
“One could see flowers bloom on trees, animals roaming around freely. They said the damaged ozone layer is becoming normal. This is because the destruction caused by man to the environment through his selfishness has become less because of the global lockdown,” he said.
“One has to remember that real peace, happiness and salvation comes from God,” the Cardinal added.
