The Colombo High Court yesterday issued an arrest warrant on Central Bank’s former governor Arjuna Mahendran, the first suspect in the Bond Case.
The trial-at-bar comprising Judges Sampath Abeykoon, Sampath Abeyratne and Champa Janaki Rajaratne directed that the warrant be issued in English.
The case filed against Mr. Mahendran, Arjun Aloysius, Kasun Palisena, former deputy governor P. Samarasiri and seven others in connection with the Treasury bond scam was fixed for December 4.
The other suspects are PTL directors Jeffery Joseph Aloysius, Pushya Mithra Gunawardane, Chitta Ranjan Hulugalla, Muthuraja Surendran and Ajahn
Gardiya Punchihewa.
They have been indicted on charges arising from the Treasury bond auction held on February 27, 2015 with a face value of Rs.10.058 billion and causing a Rs.688 million loss to
the government.
