Colombo Mayoress Rosy Senanayake yesterday said she will undergo a PCR test today as a precaution though she has not come in close contact with the CMC Charity Commissioner during the finance committee meeting held on Wednesday.    Ms. Senanayake told the Daily Mirror that the Charity Commissioner was seated right at the back during the finance committee meeting.

“I met Minister Namal Rajapaksa only on Wednesday morning and that was before the finance committee meeting,” she said.

Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) Charity Commissioner’s office on Deans Road was closed down as one of its employees was tested positive for COVID 19 according to CMC’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni.
Dr. Wijayamuni said the employee was sent to hospital while her family members were subjected to PCR tests and sent to a Quarantine Centre.

The CMC was closed for the general public but arrangements have been made to carry out services online.
The public can hand over their applications for plans and land deeds.

Meanwhile, in a statement,  Ms. Senanayake said one staff member attached to the Dean’s Road office has been tested positive for Covid-19.

“We have closed the said office with immediate effect and it will remain closed for 14 days. PCR testing has been done on all first line contacts attached to this office. All second and third line contacts will be tested tomorrow. All first line contacts have been self quarantined.

As the positive tested person and some first line contacts had visited the Town Hall in the last few days, we have restricted access to the public.

Accordingly, all applications can be handed over at the Shapiri Piyasa (Single Window Counter) in the building behind the Main Town Hall Building.

Arrangements have been made to courier all City Planning Department approved certificates.
Payments can be made via banks and online.

Essential services including Public Health Department, solid waste management, city cleanliness and safety measures will continue as normal.

All dispensaries run by the CMC will continue to function and all drugs are available.

The Public Health Department will continue to play its front-line role in PCR testing assisting and assisting in quarantining operations within the City.

Whilst regretting any inconvenience caused, please be assured that we are taking all necessary precautions to safeguard our staff and the residents of Colombo.
