Party heads to meet on Saturday
By Yohan Perera
UNF leaders decided to finalize the date to sign the agreement to form the proposed Democratic National Front on Saturday, informed sources said yesterday.
A prominent member of a party representing the UNF told Daily Mirror that the decision to meet up on Saturday was made at a meeting of UNF leaders held on Tuesday night at Temple Trees to discuss on the formation of new alliance.
He said a committee which comprises all constituent parties including TPF Leader Mano Ganesan and Minister Rajitha Senaratne was appointed to finalize the arrangements for the formation of the alliance during Tuesday’s meeting.
It has also been decided to name the candidate on the same day when the parties sign the agreement to form the new alliance.
Earlier the other constituent parties of UNF earlier requested the UNP to decide on its candidate so that the formation of the alliance could take place without delay. Minister Ganesan himself requested the UNP to expedite the decision on its candidate.
It has also been decided to name the candidate on the same day when the parties sign the agreement to form the new alliance
