A UNP member attached to the Arachchikattuwa Pradeshiya Sabha (PS), who allegedly obstructed the duties of navy personnel during curfew hours, was taken into custody by the police yesterday.
When a team of navy officers patrolling the area had noticed people thronged near a residence in Kurupane and requested them to disperse, the PS member had rushed to the scene and obstructed their duties.
Arachchikattuwa Police that investigated the complaint of navy personnel arrested the suspect. He was to be produced before the Chilaw Magistrate yesterday.
Police are conducting further investigations.
