The Attorney General had yesterday directed the Criminal Investigation Department to arrest IP Lasantha Rathnayake, SI Nishantha Silva and PC Premakumara for conspiracy and murder over the killing of Army Suranga.
The AG had also directed the CID to name the above people as suspects and produce them before the Embilipitiya Magistrate’s Court, AG’s Coordinator State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said.
“There were sufficient evidence to conduct a preliminary inquiry at Magistrate’s Courts on charges of murder and conspiracy under Section 296 of the Penal Code against the suspects and AG had directed this to the CID,” she said.
The AG had also directed the CID to record statements from the suspects in accordance with provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code and produce them before Court.
