A total of 18 cattle were found dead yesterday morning following a collision with a tipper on the A9 road at Paranthan, Kilinochchi.
The tipper had been reportedly travelling at high speed in the Visuvamadu area when it collided with the cattle.
Eye witnesses said the vehicle had fled the scene after the accident.
The 18 cattle belonged to diary farmers who had been maintaining them in a plot of land outside the cultured areas of the Iranamadu lake.
