Three more JMI activists arrested

Three more activists of Jamathei Millathu Ibrahim (JMI) Organisation were arrested yesterday in Ampara on a tip-off received by State Intelligence Services (SIS), Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said.  

He said the suspects, residents of Mawanella had undergone weapon training with National Thowheed Jamaat (NTJ) leader Zahran Hashim in Nuwara Eliya and Hambantota.   


The suspects were identified as Mohamed Kazim Mohamed alias ‘ Abu Suleiman’, Hizbullah Huzmi Ahammed alias ‘Abu Hamda’ and Abdul Haleem Mohamed alias ‘ Abu Nijanar’.


The Spokesman said following the information on the SIS the Ampara police arrested a total of 12 JMI activists during recent raids in Ampara.   


Three of them were handed over to the Terrorist Investigation Division while the remaining suspects are being questioned by the Ampara Police, SP Gunasekera said.
