Polonnaruwa General Hospital in readiness

The Air Passengers who would be brought to the Batticaloa Private University and Welikanda Kandakaduwa Rehabilitation Centre for two weeks quarantine for Covid19, would immediately be transferred to the Polonnaruwa General Hospital, in the event of any sickness, said the Director of the Hospital Specialist Doctor Sampath Indika Kumara.   
 He added that the Polonnaruwa hospital is kept in readiness to provide necessary treatment and tests required if any, with a unit specially trained staff who had been trained at IDH. In the event if any patient showing signs of being affected by the Corona Virus, steps would be taken to dispatch the patient concerned to IDH immediately, he added.  
He expressed these views at a an awareness programme held yesterday at the Hospital regarding the mandatory quarantine programme introduced by the government with the view of averting a spread of this new Corona Virus or Covid 19 within the country.   
He said further that this programme is being implemented on the instructions of President Gotabaya Rajapakse, and under the complete supervision of the Army Commander.  
The programme held at the Polonnaruwa Hospital was attended by the Deputy Director, Dr Nihal Gunathilleke, Divisional Director of Health Services Epidemiologist specialist Dr. Sanjaya Senevirathne, heads of units of the Hospital and a large gathering
