I am not a fan of Vehicle Importers Association, but I tend to agree with their assertion that most new vehicles imported into Sri Lanka is of out dated technology. More than 80% of vehicles available to buy in SL as brand new uses pre 2003 engine & safety technology. I think goverment should look into their suggestion with impartial eye.

Very true. Gov. morons enjoy brand new 2013 cars at very low prices due to innocent tax payers, but in return, will not give at least a small chance for the country man to drive a new car with latest technologies.
All the brand new Indian cars imported to Sri Lanka is 20 years behind the Japanese technology. For an example, I bought a 1991 Yamaha Rz 50 (reconditioned) that has tube less tires back then! I saw tubeless tires in Indian bikes in 2008!
Please let the country man to enjoy new cars. MP morons gets enough from innocent man.

the 23 K reconditioned Japanese cars will run 20 + years without trouble while all the 260 K "brand new" outdated Indian cars will run max of 10 years with new engines/transmissions each year!!!!
