The Treasury has instructed Sri Lanka’s Civil Aviation Authority to increase the airport tax by US $ 10 from January 1, 2013 and to revise the applicable exchange rate of US $ 1 to Rs.130.

Accordingly, the revised Embarkation Levy to be collected by an airline from each passenger leaving Sri Lanka on international flight will be US $ 25, which is equivalent to Rs.3250.

The upward revision in airport tax was announced in the Budget 2013 along with US $ 5 increase in the online visa fee from January 2012.
