Shahid Afridi was at his menacing best as he scored 23 ball 58 studded with 6 sixes. But that wasn’t enough to save Gladiators from a defeat at the hands of Jaffna Stallions.
Stallions got a hero in form of Avishka Fernando. The local hero went one better than Afridi as he hit seven sixes and finish on 92 not out off 63 balls. Stallions easily chased the target of 175 in the 20th over to register their first victory in LPL 2020.
Fernando was ably aided by Shoaib Malik, perhaps the most experienced player in the tournament. Malik kept rotating the strike and weaved in unbeaten 110 runs partnership for the team.
This partnership ensured a comfortable victory for Stallions by 8 wickets in there first game of LPL 2020.
